My Testimony of the Book of Mormon
I was talking to Dad, and he put to me the question, "What did Joseph Smith mean when he said the Book of Mormon is the most correct?" I was a little confused by this question, because Joseph says exactly what he means in the very next phrase: "a man will get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book." I told Dad this, and he said I was exactly correct. Joseph Smith did not mean it contains the most correct historical facts. He meant it contains the fullness of the gospel, the testimony of Jesus Christ, the means to obtaining eternal life and returning to Heavenly Father. Also of note, Joseph Smith said "by abiding by its precepts." It is not enough simply to read the book. We must take its words into ourselves, live them, and through the power of Christ and the Holy Ghost become converted (changed) into a new creature, one capable of inheriting the Kingdom of God.
