Merry Christmas


"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

The birth, life, Atonement and resurrection of our Savior do not not make up for flaws in the plan, they are the Plan. He is the plan. He "is the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by [Him]."

This Christmas, as I ponder what His gift means to me, I am comforted by the knowledge that through Him all things are made whole. That all people shall be restored to life eternal. That families can be together forever. That repentance is real and salvation is possible for all who turn to Him and follow Him. That no one will be left behind, or forgotten.

This Christmas, I rejoice with those who know the Savior, pray for those who do not, and yearn with all my heart that all will learn to hear His voice and know His doctrine. 

For unto us a child is born. Unto us the greatest gift has been given. The gift of a Savior, the gift of resurrection, the gift of eternal families, the gift of peace, the gift of love.

The Things That Really Matter

I had a dream last night. Two factions of people were fighting, I don't remember what over. All I know is that it was trivial. A group from one faction stood on a hill, shooting down onto a city, mostly aiming for what I believe was a church. I was with this group, though I was very reluctant to shoot the devices. They were RPGs, shooting something similar to a grenade out of a one-gallon milk jug. (Remember, this was a dream; not everything makes perfect sense.) At one point, when my turn came, I finally refused to shoot the device, and disarmed mine, throwing away the grenade, but holding on to the jug. I told the other people in my group to stop, and stood up in front of the line of fire. My King, My Light, My Life, and My Hope

 Merry Christmas!  The last paragraph of The Living Christ states "He is the great King Immanuel...He is the light, the life and the hope of the world."  I want to share with you three pictures that illustrate my feelings of how Christ is my King, my Light, my Life, and my Hope.    My King:                  I love this image as a ruler and a protector. See how Jesus smiles at the lamb? See how He loves her? How He holds her close? He carries her and nurtures her, teaches her. And she loves Him and will follow Him anywhere.   My Light and My Life:  This drawing is titled “A Change of Heart”. I imagine that the hard, dark, broken heart is mine and it lives in the blackness of a sorrowing, lost soul. But, I have invited in the soft, light, whole heart of Christ. He is my light, my guide. Surely Jesus Removes All Shame From the Broken

I was reading Elder Karl D Hirst's talk "God's Favourite" from October General Conference, and I was highlighting passages and writing down thoughts, not casually, but just moving along through the talk, when I read a sentence that stopped me in my tracks: "Surely Jesus removes all shame from the broken." Have you ever felt broken? Like your brain or your body or your spirit just don't work the way they are supposed to? I have. And while I have never been personally told that I am broken or unworthy or less than because of my struggles, I know people with similar struggles have been told that. And sometimes I feel that if they are, surely I am too. But, "through His brokenness, He became perfect, and He can make us perfect in spite of our brokenness.
