A Prayer

One of the YouTubers I loosely follow recently found out that he has cancer. I usually watch his science channel, but he also has a channel with his brother in a video diary format. They each post a video one day a week, and basically carry on a conversation with each other. Today the brother posted his video, and spoke about the cancer diagnosis. One thing he said really struck me. He said "I pray that we may be justified in our hope and unalone in our sorrow."

Oh but we are! We are! Through the atonement of Jesus Christ we are! Alma 7:12 teaches this prayer exactly: "And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."

We are justified in our hope. Our hope for healing, our hope for life eternal. We are unalone in our sorrows. He knows them, He knows us. He can and will succor us.

My prayer is that we will know and remember the infinite love God and His Son have for us. That we will turn to Them and remember we are never alone. That when the waves of sorrow and pain and loss and despair threaten to overcome us, we remember He who is the master of all creation, the Master healer, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
