Carnally-Minded vs Spiritually-Minded
I was reading in 2 Nephi this morning, one of Jacob's sermons where he proclaims wo upon the people. Wo unto the rich, wo unto the deaf and blind, wo unto the liar and murderer. "These sound pretty much the exact opposite of the Beatitudes," I thought. I compared them, and they line up perfectly.

2 Nephi 9:28-38 Wo unto... |
3 Nephi 12:1-10 Blessed are... |
Those who hearken not unto the counsel of God |
They who give heed to the twelve disciples |
The rich |
The poor in spirit |
The deaf and blind |
All they that mourn |
The uncircumcised of heart |
The meek |
The liar |
They that hunger and thirst after righteousness |
The murderer |
The merciful |
Them that commit whoredoms |
The pure in heart |
Them that worship idols |
The peacemakers |
In fine, wo unto all them that die in their sins |
Blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name's sake |
For they shall...
Perish |
Have a remission of their sins |
Have their treasure perish also |
Inherit the kingdom of Heaven |
Perish |
Be comforted |
Be smitten |
Inherit the earth |
Be thrust down to hell |
Be filled with the Holy Ghost |
Die |
Obtain mercy |
Be thrust down to hell |
See God |
Be deceived by the Devil |
Be called the children of God |
Remain in their sins |
Inherit the kingdom of Heaven |
2 Nephi 12 verse 39 says: "Remember, to be carnally-minded is death, and to be spiritually-minded is life eternal"
