Every man is worth your tears
I was watching a show a few weeks ago, and after a battle, one character mourns the passing of a comrade, and another character tells him "No man is worth your tears." No! I immediately thought. Every man is worth your tears.
It reminded me of a line from another show: "If we felt the loss of any soul as keenly as we feel the loss of a loved one, Earth would have a much less bloody history."
The worth of souls is great in the sight of God. We are all brothers and sisters, children of Heavenly Father.
Peace on earth begins with peace in your heart. Peace in your household, peace in your neighborhood. It begins with feeling kindly about those around you and caring about their welfare. Pray for them, out loud, by name. If you don't know their name, ask them.
In Young Women's and Relief Society the leaders were always saying "Heavenly Father loves each of you so much. We love you so much." I always thought they were saying it because they just believed it. They were just saying words. Nice words, but to me, sometimes just words. That is, until I was called to the Relief Society presidency in my student ward. And then, as we worked and prayed for the girls in our ward, I felt so much love for them. God loved them so much. Each and every one of them. He gave a portion of that love to us. I could stand up and say "Heavenly Father loves you. We love you. Each and every one of you."
In October 2015 General Conference Elder Renlund said "to effectively serve others we must see them through a parent’s eyes, through Heavenly Father’s eyes. Only then can we begin to comprehend the true worth of a soul. Only then can we sense the love that Heavenly Father has for all of His children. Only then can we sense the Savior’s caring concern for them."
Peace on earth begins with feeling that love for each other.
It is the Lord who takes us there.
