A Hug From Jesus
Do you ever feel like you want to give the whole world a big hug and tell them it'll be OK?
I opened my scriptures yesterday to find the next chapter was 3 Nephi 8. This is the chapter when Christ is crucified. It speaks of great storms and terrible tempests. It speaks of death and woe and three days of utter darkness. I thought "I don't want to read this today." I was finally feeling good after a week of being sick, Emily and Katie were home for the 4th of July, I was feeling excited to be up and at the day for the first time in months. I didn't want to read something so depressing.
And then I remembered what comes after. The next few chapters are the most glorious, wonderful, important chapters in the book; indeed, it could be said in any book. For Jesus comes.
After centuries of war, the worst storm ever seen on the face of the land, three days of total, penetrating, tangible darkness, and the death of thousands, Jesus comes and makes everything right.
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."
He is the light and the light of the world. He comes to make everything better. To heal all wounds. To cleanse all souls. He is Savior, Redeemer, Son of God, Prince of Peace. He makes everything OK.
I say these things for I know them to be true. I have felt it, like a hug from Jesus.
In His name, Jesus Christ. Amen
